Hi! I am Palak!

I have trained under a lot of approaches before finding something that feels true to me. I feel that that really adds to the therapeutic relationship, as, if I am true to myself, it creates space for you to be as well.

I completed my Masters in Psychology in 2020, and started working a few months after that. I have earlier worked in hospitals, and corporates, and I believe I bring all of my learning into who I am as a therapist today. It has been a wholesome journey, to say the least.

And while I continue to upskill myself through work, books, or different courses; I do enjoy a relaxing day to myself where I can maybe pet dogs, or rewatch a movie or series and bask in the comfort of the known.

Get To Know Me Better!

I chose to be a therapist because I found emotions intriguing, difficult to handle at times, to be honest. I wondered if its only my experience or if it is something that a lot of people go through, and I guess I just wanted to be there.

It is difficult. It can bring up a lot of things that you never thought would come up, and it can make you feel low as well. But, it is also such a beautiful journey. It feels difficult because you’re finally breaking patterns, getting to know yourself from your perspective, not through the lenses of the society. It’s such a safe and a calm place, where you can just be.

So I would understand the confusion, but I would say you deserve a good try as well.

I dont have rigid guidelines to my sessions. It can be very free flowing. I don’t think that as a therapist, I am someone to show you the path, rather maybe someone who walks with you. So it could be a normal chat, it could be an intense session, it could be us getting to know each other, and it even could be a place to just vent. But, however it is, it will be ours to make something of.

I see therapy as something that is happening in the here and now. Some place where you can just be. Therapy with me would be just that, a place for you. It might sometimes feel like sitting in front of a mirror, or that you want to run away, you might even just want to lie down and not speak a word, or it may sometimes also be boring. And in all of that, in however it feels to you, my job will be to hold that space for you, to hold you in that emotion. I feel, that at the end of the day, it will just feel safe.

I think the freedom of it. It lets you just be, you’re human. You can feel however you feel, you can be whoever you want to be. It feels true, and real, and brave. It incites so much curiosity, both within the therapist and the client.

I try to be my true self. I believe in honesty and vulnerability in my sessions. If I cannot do that for my patients, how can I expect them to!?

That they felt safe. And that they could be the kid they imagine to be in the sessions, even though it was difficult outside sometimes.

I wish that it wasn’t so disorder or problem oriented. I feel therapy is a way of understanding oneself, and being okay with that. It is a beautiful journey.

As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I tend to focus on what is happening in the session, between the two people that are present. My work is long term, and it focuses on the patient coming to the answers they need themselves. I like to be in the here and now and let that feeling take over.
